I just got a new Win 7 and am tryong to put all my old stuff on my new comp.
I lost the MSN premium disk and received today a new copy. I try running it
and when it is about 85% done it tells me there is an error. Yes, I have
deleted that item .. I forget what it's called from the registry. Been
googling my problem and after several, maybe 10 tries with online stuff and
running the compatibility thing on my computer I managed to get a MSN
intaller wizard, which was more then I had with the disk. So I ran the wizard
and I thought I finally fixed the problem then it tells me I am not connected
to the inernet, which I am, and to reboot and that would fix my problems.
Well know I am going in circles. Please how do I get it to work. The disk
seems useless. How do I get MSN software to work with my windows 7 computer.

What is the error? How does the Registry and deleting something from it come
into play here?
Are you installing on an account that has administrative rights?
What security software is in place on the computer?
Do you already have a high speed connection?
If so, you don't need to disk, you can install from http://membercenter.msn.com

235, betcha. Erika, have you considered abandoning MSN Explorer? You can
access your MSN Mail using Windows Live Mail, Outlook Connector or indeed
any pop3/smtp client that supports SSL. IE8 that ships with Windows 7 and
third party browsers provide most if not all features that made MSN Explorer
attractive. Depending on your account type, you may be able to perform all
account management functions from a web page.

I got MSN Explorer to install on one Windows 7 computer no problem, but the
other one did the same things as you reported. The party line is that it
works fine. The behavior tells me that, as always, this is a product that
suffers from inadequate development and test resources.

Hi Erika,

The CD that you received would be for MSN 9.6 which does have the error 235
issue. If you download the installer from
http://membercenter.msn.com/download.aspx?lm=en-us you will get the MSN 10
installer.

Note:
If your new computer is a 64 bit machine and has a 64 bit operating system
installed, the registry keys will be in a different location. They will be
located under the "HKEY Local Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft..." node
instead of the "HKEY Local Machine\Software\Microsoft..." node.

If you decide to download the installer from MemberCenter, please uninstall
the previous MSN Explorer installer first. This can be done from the
"Programs and Features" Control Panel. You may run into the 235 error while
trying to uninstall the MSN 9.6 installer, in which case, removing the
appropriate registry keys should work.

Our customer support folks can also assist you with any installation issues,
so please don't hesitate to contact them.

Thank you,
