I am trying to uninstall this MSN software and keep getting the following
message when I try, even though I know my connection is good:

We’re sorry, we cannot continue this wizard. You may have been disconnected
from the Internet. Make sure you are connected to the internet, and then try
running this wizard again. If this problem persists, contact customer
support.

Any thoughts before I manually try to remove it?

I suggest contacting Verizon for assistance with the removal. It should remove
via Control Panel/Programs, of course.
Are you connected to the Internet when you attempt the removal?

Check the following:
Open Internet Explorer and press Alt if the command bar is not showing.
Press File and confirm that Work Off Line is not checked.
If not, and this is IE7 or IE8 go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset
(button) to reset IE to defaults.
If that still does not help, and you are using a 3rd party firewall, try
disabling that firewall. Failing all of the above, most certainly contact
Verizon for help.

Greetings,

That sounds like the Error 235 which is usually caused by a registry key
being too long. If you are comfortable editing the registry, please email me
at my microsoft.com address (beritb) and I can send you the instructions.
Please let me know whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit operating system
since the registry locations differ.
If you are not comfortable doing this, then I recommend contacting Support.

Thank you,

yes, that is the error code, I tried some of the other items recommended
below and still get the same message so it probably is a registry problem

Is this an error 235 message? If so, one earlier culprit was Windows
Office Live Add-In in your programs. Removing it often allows the uninstall
to happen normally If not that, just search on error 235 in this discussion
group. There is a lot of info out there on that error message. Good luck.
