Disabling email scan in the AV software or disabling the MSN addin for
av scanning isn't always effective because the AV software hooks into the
mail API, not MSN. In this case, the AV software needs to be uninstalled and
reinstalled without the option for mail integration enabled. Note that some
of the newer AV software doesn't allow you to not install integration, only
disable it. (And when its disabled, it keeps reminding you that its
disabled.)

Does "McAfee Security Center--MSN Edition" ring a bell? It's free to MSN users.
Qwest subscribers have a choice of Windows Live OneCare or McAfee. In Spanish we
call this "entre la espada y la pared", but seriously, you don't have to uninstall
McAfee to disable email scanning. Just start up the Security Center, press
Configure and then Email & IM. I don't think that McAfee scans http mail like
what MSN Premium Email client uses, but I could be wrong.

2nd Disable you email scanning feature in your McAfee by uninstalling McAfee
and then re-installing it without the email integration (scanning) option.
3rd Why in the world did you change from Avira one of the better AV's to McAfee
which creates issues and is one of the worst AV programs available
