MSN Email Account with Problems opening attachments

My mom has an email address @msn.com. I try to send her emails with
attachments and she cannot get the attachments to open. She never gets the
"can't execute" error that is posted in previous threads. Instead, all she
gets is the little window/screen that shows the piece of paper flying from
the globe to the file folder (the one that pops up when you download an
attachment).

I am not sure if this is a problem with her actual @msn.com account of if
this is a larger problem with her entire computer system. Does anybody have
any experience with this kind of a situation to offer a possible fix? I am
pretty sure that she's running Vista. I am not sure, however, what version
of IE she has (it's probably IE7 still). If you need any additional
information from me in order to provide any kind of assistance, please let me
know and I will try to track it down. Thank you in advance for any
assistance/suggestions.

Unfortunately, no. We've tried to save them to the desktop, save them to a
folder, and it's the same thing every time. We just do not have any luck
getting email attachments to open on her computer.

Is it possible that it's a problem with the browser (IE) instead of the
actual email? Have you ever heard of using another browser (like firefox or
something of that nature) and solving this?

Again, we're not exceptional when it comes to dealing with computers, so
your time and effort on our behalf is greatly appreciated.

Best Regards.

Are you sending using MS Outlook and RichText or HTML formatting?

Well, she can send from her @msn.com account to anybody and the attachments
work (both RTF and HTML). However, when receiving attachments into her
account, emails come in from Outlook and have been in .rtf and html.

We have also sent emails with attachments (again, both .rtf and html) from a
hotmail account as well.

Thank you.

OE doesn't play nice with OL's RichText or HTML formatting, especially if
there's an attachment. Send messages to your moms only in Plain Text and
all should be well.
