You do indeed have tech support available. In your web browser go to
http://support.msn.com and sign in with your primary account to see your support
options.

Hi DJ,

What is the exact error that you are seeing when you try to sign in?

I used to have a verizon/msn. I had to purchase my account in june because
Verizon and MSN were seperating. Around june 13 i got errors at log in
requiring me to change my date and delete cookies. I was then able to log in.
On June 23rd I started getting log in errors again. I have an economy MSN
premium service so I was told I have no tech support. I did get through once
and got an email from support suggesting I do the following. I made it all
there way to step III but got stuck at step III. B and the erorr said it was
loaded but was unable to make the call. My account is the admin so I don't
think that is the problem. I know a lot of sign on problems had occurred
lately and I have tried everything I can do (I am not so savvy). Please help.
I can log in to msn through hotmail but not my butterfly software. I pay for
this and I would like to use it but I dont have any other resource to solve
the proble. I am including the one help letter I got from a tech person at
MSN who was nice enough to try.
1. Close all open windows and running programs.
2. Click 'Start', and then click 'Shut Down'.
3. From the drop-down action list in the dialog box that appears,
select 'Restart', and then click 'OK'.
After restarting, please try to sign in to MSN.
If you are still unable to sign in, then please follow the next procedures
in the order that they are presented. After each procedure, please try to
sign in to MSN. If a procedure resolves the issue, you do not have to follow
the succeeding ones.
I. Update your Microsoft Passport profile
Your profile consists of the information you supplied when you set up your
MSN Hotmail account, such as your name, address, time zone, age, gender, and
1. Connect to the Internet
2. Open Internet Explorer (double click the blue 'e' icon) or
click on 'Start', choose 'Run' and then type in the box 'iexplore' (without
apostrophes)
3. Go to: https://accountservices.passport.net/
4. Type your email address and password then click on 'Sign In'
5. Click the 'Registered information' link
6. Fill in your preferred name beside the 'First name:' and 'Last
name:' fields
7. Change any outdated information and fill out all required
fields
8. Click the 'Save' button located below the page
9. On the upper right corner of the page, click 'Sign out'
10. Go to: www.hotmail.com

12. Remain signed in to Hotmail for at least 2 minutes to refresh
your account's information then click on 'Sign Out'
13. Sign in to your MSN software (butterfly icon) after 5 - 10
minutes
1. The system is not case sensitive when it comes to the first and last
name. This means that it does not recognize the changes from lower case to
upper case if the characters are the same. You will need to specify a
different name other than what is currently specified (ex: TEST) then after 5
minutes change it back to the desired name.
2. Do not leave the 'First name' and 'Last name' fields blank as the system
will still use the previous name entered there. I suggest that you enter your
e-mail address instead. (Ex: First name: baboo1976 then Last name: at
msn.com).
II. Optimize Internet Explorer settings
Internet Explorer is one of the major components of the MSN software.
Previously viewed Web pages and files, including graphics, are stored in the
Temporary Internet Files folder, called a cache, on your computer. When a
large number of these files have accumulated over time, it can slow down your
browser and can cause sign-in issues. Deleting these files can improve your
1. Open Internet Explorer or click 'Start' (Windows

'Delete All'. At the bottom of the page, select 'Also delete files and

- Click the 'Advanced' tab, and then click 'Restore
Advanced settings'
III. Reregister the SSL security libraries.
