Discussion:
Qwest MSN Premium Webroot & McAfee "Account not supported"

I was fixing a friends computer and reloading his MSN software and his
account through the MSN Member Center trying to download either Spy Sweeper
or McAfee said it was not supported.

I called up Qwest and they said they would "Prefer" if I downloaded Norton
instead".
I said "we prefered" McAfee and the rep became evasive saying that Live One
Care wasn't available either.

May I get the Webroot or McAfee still?

Software availability for an MSN Partner account like Qwest is controlled by Qwest, contact Qwest for instructions to access the
member center and download what they provide. Additionally, due to the partner arrangement, Qwest is also responsible for all
support, not Microsoft.

I am a Qwest customer also and I am getting this message, when I click the "Install McAfee® AntiVirus Plus - MSN Edition" link:

Account Not Supported

We're sorry, but the software you're attempting to download is not available because of one of the following
You're not signed in with your primary account e-mail address.
The software is not included in your subscription.
If you are presently signed in with a secondary account member e-mail address, please Sign Out, then Sign In again using the primary e-mail address for your MSN account.

MSN combines fast, reliable service with innovative Microsoft software to make the Web more useful for you and your family. To learn about all you get as an MSN member, visit https://membercenter.msn.com/features.aspx
I conclude that Qwest is no longer part of the agreement to provide McAfee® AntiVirus Plus - MSN Edition. There was no announcement of a change. :o( McAfee is still working on my other computers, but I am trying the free version of AVG on the other one, where the subscription ran out. I figure it is only a matter of time before all of them do this.

I think this says it all, from http://member.q.com
Norton™ AntiVirus is included with your Qwest High-Speed Internet service at no additional charge - $39.99 value!

To install Norton™ AntiVirus, download and run the Qwest Installer.
Again, no announcement of this change. It appears to me that http://membercenter.msn.com is a dead link as far as Qwest is concerned. My advice is for Qwest/MSN customers to use http://member.q.com, and if you don't like what you see there well then purchase some other solution. I don't know if I have the cojones to run that Qwest Installer, considering what a previous version of Qwest Quickconnect software did to my computer. :o(
Sorry for the HTML, but the Microsoft News Server, which is where you should be subscribing to these groups, supports it. :oß

Words to the Wise:

After uninstalling the McAfee app, download/run the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool before you install any replacement AV app.

If you choose to install the Norton freebie & later want/need to install an upgrade of the Norton freebie or another Norton app, uninstall the current Norton app & download/run the Norton Removal Tool [2] before you install the new Norton version/app.

When the time comes to replace the Norton app (and I assure you that time will come), download/run the Norton Removal Tool [2] after uninstalling the Norton app & before installing the replacement AV app.

I agree, that Qwest Installer starts off by wanting to initialize my modem,
can't find it because I have a router, then says I don't have XP SP3 or
Vista SP2, and I need to upgrade my OS to be compatible with Windows Live.
The computer is running Windows 7. It's useless. A three computer license
for Norton or McAfee is pretty cheap, considering the potential cost of a
virus infection.

You can go to this page http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/security/index3.html
