A message from ***@microsoft.windowslive.com on
10/10/09, purported to be from Microsoft regarding updating Messenger, came
to my MSN Premium junk mail via the phishing filter. Does anyone know if
that email really is a scam? Looks pretty authentic to me. If it is, the
irony is that MSN is filtering out its own security alerts. Anyone know?

installed.

I'm sure this mail (I got some too) is legitimate MS promotional stuff. It
got flagged as junk here, too, but it's simple enough to add the domain to
Safe Senders. At the bottom (in very small type) it says

so it's also simple enough to opt out of receiving this sort of
communication from MS.
