Discussion:
MSN and Vista compatibility

Greetings,

MSN Explorer, versions 9.5 and greater, have been tested with both the 32
bit and 64 bit versions of Vista Gold and Vista SP1. In addition, MSN
Explorer 9.6 has passed the certification for Vista OEM compliance which is
required if an application is to ship pre-installed on a computer running
Vista.

Over 20% of MSN Explorer customers are currently running either Vista Gold
or Vista SP1.

The MSN Explorer team is in the process of validating MSN 9.6 with Windows 7
(both 32 and 64 bit versions).

Known issue with Vista and Messenger 7 (shipped with MSN 9.5/9.6)
There have been some issues reported due to the version of Messenger that we
ship with MSN Explorer. Messenger 7 can cause errors with Vista, and it is
strongly recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of Messenger
(http://messenger.live.com ). We include this older version of Messenger
since MSN Explorer still supports down level operating systems such as Win98
and WinME. This version of Messenger is the last that works on these older
operating systems.

Please note that versions of MSN Explorer earlier than 9.5 are not
compatible with Vista. If you were running an earlier version of MSN on XP,
and upgraded to Vista, you may encounter issues until you upgrade to the
latest version of MSN Explorer.

If you are experiencing problems with MSN Explorer on any operating system,
please contact support.

Thank you,

Thank you gentlemen, I predicted that I would hear from both of you before
the night was over. If only I was as good at predicting winning lotto
numbers. Have a pleasant evening, and I hope Pa Bear has dried off by now.

Well I am off to work on my Win98gold compatibility post.

Cheers!

Help and support for Windows Live Hotmail can be found at
http://windowslivehelp.com/Default.aspx

You can't sent a page from your browser if you are using Hotmail on the web. The
functionality in the browser needs an installed email program for this to work.

Help for Internet Explorer is available from here:
http://support.microsoft.com/ph/807#tab0

Your question may be better posed to one of the forums here.

Assuming Windows Mail is your default Mail Client, use the Configuration
Settings on this page:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry

NB: Set Outgoing server (SMTP) to Port 587, not Port 25!

Windows Mail's new account wizard is hard-coded to reject ***@hotmail.com
and ***@msn.com addresses. When you enter your email address during setup,
use a dummy one (e.g., ***@notmail.com). After you've finished, go back
and change the email address to the correct one.
