MyMsn has two operating modes.
One without a Live ID, one with a Live ID.
The former is configurable/customizable only to the extent supported by settings capable of storage in a cookie. The latter has
additional capability by cookie(s) and server stored content.
My.live.com, a different option suggested previously for a home page, loads here on IE6(XP), IE7(Vista), and IE8(Windows 7).
No redirect to Bing at this end.
- Possibly a difference in security or cookie settings ? Everything(security and cookies) is set to default on all machines and no
sites added to Trusted or Cookie Privacy settings.
Loading my.live.com the first time yields a page with these options

Personalize my.live.com
My.live.com brings your online world together in one place, from news to photos to mail.
To get started, select the pages you want to add. Next, you can add additional content or change the layout.
Basics
News
Sports
Entertainment

At the bottom of the first time loaded page is a 'Next' button that creates a page the above as four tabbed pages(Basis, News,
Sports, Entertainment) and an Add a Page option. It like MyMsn without use of Live ID signon is customizable and retainable to
the extent that settings can be stored in a cookie. Sign on with a Live ID increases the customizable options with cookie and
server stored
content. Sign on with a Live ID adds the primary capability for the my.live.com customized settings to 'travel with the user' (i.e.
to different computers or mobile devices)
Fyi..I earlier referred to the items on my.live.com as modules, the correct term is gadgets.

I have a Live ID, but no premium or Hotmaiul accounts. I only use MyMSN as my homepage which requires a Live ID. I too get
redirected to Bing using IE8, the only browser installed.

Post by john86441Earle, You only get redirected to Bing is you use Safari as your web browser.
On a Windows computer, only IE 8 or Firefox will take you to my.live.com -
not Safari. On a Mac computer, only Firefox will take you to my.live.com.
Safari always takes you to the Bing page.
