What happens to my @msn.com email after canceling Verizon with MSN Premium?

We are in the process of switching from Verizon with MSN Premium to cable. I currently use Outlook to check e-mail with my @msn.com account, but am having a hard time figuring out if access to this account will be restricted when I cancel my Verizon service, or if I will continue to be able to access that e-mail through Outlook.

Any help is appreciated. I'm currently carrying to internet servers -- Verizon and cable -- while I try to figure this out. Don't want to cancel the Verizon before I've ensured that I've taken care of the @msn.com e-mail.

Thanks!

You may never see this message since I'm posting on the nntp server and you are
using the useless cafe.
You can access this newsgroup in a number of ways, but...

Anyway, your "paid" @msn account will become a free Hotmail account with the
same email.
If you are using the Outlook Connector in Outlook, it will continue to work as
is.
You can also configure Outlook to access the account using POP/SMTP.

Parasitic forums like Egghead copy the messages back from Usenet, to make it
look as if they have volume. I was surprised a few years ago, on consulting
a similar forum that had somethiing interesting to me, to discover that I
had been a "member and contributor" for several years already!

@msn.com accounts become the same as free Hotmail after you stop paying.
You still use the same @msn.com address to log in to the Hotmail server.
They do not become the same user name but @hotmail.com. This is a potential
source of confusion for some users.

This doesn't apply to this user, but partner branded addresses like "@q.com"
and "@verizon.com" effectively disappear when you stop using the partner
service.

Normally a paid primary msn.com account converts to a free account upon cancellation.
Sub-accounts of a primary account for the most part can be converted to free accounts or Hotmail Plus accounts.

Note: Whether or not an msn.com sub account tied to a partner account converts to a free account is a question that can only be
answered by Verizon and Msn.

We don't see to many posts in this forum from people using Verizon as the vehicle for the MSN Premium software...thus you might
wish to start the process to contact both Verizon and MSN.

....and ensure that you have any important messages backed up in Outlook to user created folders separate from an msn.com Http
account setup in Outlook(Outlook Connector). You won't really know if the 'convert to free' occurs until the Verizon account is
cancelled.
