It takes about 45 minutes to get the computer signed on each day before it is
useable. After turning it on I must wait about 10 minutes before clicking on
my user name or it will lock up. After clicking on my user name it takes
another 25-30 minutes to get completely signed on. The icons will show after
about 10 minutes but if I click on them right away the unit locks up. I must
wait another 15-20 minutes and then I can usually get into the internet and
email. However, it often takes about 5 minutes to get into the email account.
Yesterday, after waiting about 5 minutes for the unit to sign into email I
received an automatically generated email message saying I am low on virtual
memory. Windows was automatically increasing the size of the memory and also
closed my email. I signed on again with no problem. Once the computer is
signed on there is usually no problem with getting into the internet sights.
This is a Dell computer purchased in 2005. Windows XP.
How can I get my computer to sign on faster?
Thanks.
Gary

Your issue is not with MSN, but with the PC and/or operating system. There can
be many reasons for slow performance as you are describing. One of the more
common ones is that multiple antivirus products are installed. I once fixed a PC
where the owner had installed 4 security suites. Removing 3 of them resolved the
problem. Another possible reason is that the hard drive is failing. In any
event, this newsgroup is for discussion of the MSN Services.
Your question may be better posed to one of the forums here:
