RE: No spell check in MSN Explorer e-mail only--as opposed to Windows e-mail
or Outlook e-mail:
Installing my old FrontPage 2002 instantly restored English options to the
previous only France and Canada French options.
I also got the following message from MSN support services
"...if you are using the 2007 Microsoft Office system, as well as Microsoft
Works 8. Please also note that by default, Windows Vista is using Microsoft
Office 2007.
When the upgrade from earlier versions of Office to the 2007 Microsoft
Office system, the old spell-checking files were removed for some languages
such as English, Spanish, and German. These files are replaced with newer
versions included in the 2007 Microsoft Office system and they are currently
incompatible with the MSN software.
Please do note that currently, spell-checking capability is available only
if one of the following software packages is installed on your computer:
Office XP
Office 2000/Office 2000 SR1
Word 2000
FrontPage 2000
Works 6.0
Works 5.0
Word 95
Works 5.0
Works 4.0
Works 3.0
As a workaround, you can use the Microsoft Office 2003 disc to install the
English Language Proofing tool. You do not have to install the whole
program.
To install the proofing tool from Office 2003, please follow these steps:
1. Insert the Microsoft Office 2003 CD into the CD drive or into
the DVD drive.
2. Click 'Custom Install'.
3. In the setup window, expand 'Office Shared Features'.
Note: If you cannot find 'Office Shared Features', expand
'Microsoft Word', and then locate 'Office Shared Features'.
4. Expand 'Proofing Tools'.
5. Select 'English', or select the required language, and then
click 'Next'.
6. When the setup is complete, click 'Finish', and then restart
the computer.
If you do not have a Microsoft Office 2003 CD, there are various, free,
third-party spelling checker programs available on the Internet. To learn
about available programs, visit the Microsoft Communities site. This site
lets you obtain advice from other users and from Microsoft Most Valuable
Professionals (MVPs). To access the Microsoft Communities site, visit the
following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/default.mspx
Another way to find spelling checkers is to use a search site to obtain
results, for example, http://www.live.com

assist you.

Post by pkalellisI just purchased an new HP dv6000t with Vista Home Premium. I installed MS
Office 2007 and MSN Premium 9.5. The spell checker does not work as English
is not listed as an option in the drop-down menu (even though the English
dictionary is installed). The only dictionary available in MSN Explorer is
for some reason French (France) and French (Canada). Any ideas how this can
be solved?
